An experienced first-class cricketer, Omphile Ramela hails from Johhanesburg. Ramela has played over 100 first-class matches and is a top order batsman with a best score of 202*. The South African made his debut against Zimbabwe Provinces about a decade ago at Bulwayo as Gauteng won that particular Provincial Three-Day Challenge by 9 wickets. Ramela was leading Cape Cobras during the time he was pursuing his Masters in Economics. Someone who is a keen learner on the field as well as off it, Ramela is one of the most knowledgeable players with loads of academic achievements.
In 2014-15 season, Ramela was the top run-scorer for Cape Cobars in the first-class competition as he scored 724 runs at a very good average of 48.26; that also comprised a stunning double century. Following his steady performances in domestic cricket, Ramela got a well deserved chance to tour with South Africa A team and the southpaw didn't disappoint the selectors as he scored a century against India A. Though he played for the Cobras and led them for a considerable period, Lions were the one who picked him for 2018-19 season. In March 2018, Ramela scored 73 against his former team (Cape Cobras) as Lions won that match by 9 wickets at Potchefstroom.
